Tom DeLonge memutuskan buat keluar dari Blink-182? Oke tahan dulu kekagetan kalian, semalem emang beredar kabar kalo Tom memutuskan buat keluar dari Blink-182 dalam waktu yang tidak terhingga. Jadi kabar ini beredar setelah Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio) disebut-sebut akan bergabung dengan Blink-182 buat Musink Music and Tatto Festival nanti, kabar ini kemudian dikonfirmasi oleh Blink-182 dengan sebuah pernyataan yang menyatakan bahwa mereka mendapatkan sebuah email dari manajer Tom DeLonge tentang Tom dan Blink-182:

“We were all set to play this festival and record a new album and Tom kept putting it off without reason. A week before we were scheduled to go in to the studio we got an email from his manager explaining that he didn’t want to participate in any Blink-182 projects indefinitely, but would rather work on his other non-musical endeavors.”

“No hard feelings, but the show must go on for our fans.”

Meskipun begitu, Matt Skiba tetap akan berada di Alkaline Trio dan tidak bergabung dengan Blink-182 secara permanen. Kabar keluarnya Tom ini tentu menjadi perbincangan buat semua fans Blink-182 di seluruh dunia, tapi sebelum kabar ini semakin meluas, Tom mengeluarkan sebuah pernyataan terkait melalui halaman Facebook dia.

“To all the fans, I never quit the band. I actually was on a phone call about a blink 182 event for New York City at the time all these weird press releases started coming in… Apparently those releases were ‘sanctioned’ from the band. Are we dysfunctional- yes. But, Christ….. ‪#‎Awkward‬ ‪#‎BabyBackRibs‬”

Kabar terakhir menyatakan bahwa Tom tidak keluar dari Blink-182, melainkan hanya membatasi penampilannya bersama dengan Blink-182 tahun ini, berikut pernyataan tambahan dari Tom.

“I never quit the band. Actually, I was on the phone discussing a possible Blink-182 event in New York City when I heard the ‘news.’ The ONLY truth here is that I have commitments that limit my availability this year.

I love Blink-182 and I’m not leaving.” – Tom DeLonge

Mark Hoppus dan Travis Barker berbicara langsung kepada Rolling Stone mengenai masalah ini dan pernyataan mereka cukup mengagetkan. Mereka beberapa kali menyebut Tom sebagai orang yang tidak bersyukur dan tidak jujur. Sepertinya hal ini bukan yang pertama kali buat mereka, tahun 2004 lalu Tom juga pernah melakukan hal yang serupa sebelum Blink-182 akhirnya memutuskan untuk hiatus.

“We’re booked January 5th to go into the studio. On December 30th, we get an e-mail from Tom’s manager saying that he has no interest in recording and that he wants to do his other, non-musical stuff and that he’s out indefinitely. There’s a flurry of e-mails going back and forth for clarification about the recording and the show and his manager sends [an e-mail] back saying, “Tom. Is. Out.” Direct quote. This is the exact same e-mail we got back in 2004 when Tom went on indefinite hiatus before.” – Mark Hoppus
