JAKARTA – Released on June 24, 2026, Bernadya’s “Laut yang Tenang” serves as the pivotal focus track for her new album, Semoga Hanya di Mimpi, setting its thematic direction.
The track features a collaborative songwriting effort by Bernadya Ribka and Baskara Putra, with Enrico Octaviano also contributing to the composition. Enrico Octaviano additionally handled the music production and vocal editing for the single. The mixing was completed by Stevano at Sembunyi Studio, while Dimas Pradipta managed the mastering and Dolby Atmos at Sum It! Studios.
Baskara Putra notably proposed the central lyrical phrase, “Namun laut yang tenang patut dicurigai” (But a calm sea should be suspected), which became crucial to the song’s concept. This single, released under JUNI Records, was introduced during a press conference held in Jakarta, establishing its significance within the album’s narrative.
The Paradox of Peace and Lingering Suspicion
Bernadya’s “Laut yang Tenang” initiates with a deceptive calm, meticulously detailing an idyllic life that subtly reveals an underlying anxiety. This unease, stemming from a creative block caused by a life “too smoothly without conflict,” prompts a worry about writing on happiness. The central metaphor, “hidup terlalu lurus” (life too straight), and the unsettling truth it conveys, is further explored in our breakdown of “Laut yang Tenang” by Bernadya, where the phrase “Namun laut yang tenang patut dicurigai” (But a calm sea should be suspected) becomes crucial.
The song’s chorus directly articulates an internal conflict, showcasing Bernadya’s heart divided between enjoying her present “kemenanganku” (victory) and a compelling need to remain “waspada” (vigilant) for future “ombak” (waves). This reflects an active, internal compulsion to brace for anticipated challenges. As the narrative progresses, fears become more specific, like the vulnerability of losing her voice, grounding abstract anxieties in tangible, personal threats, and concluding with an unresolved longing for fears to remain only in a dream.
