This track follows earlier singles “Danger” and “Boys In Blue,” preceding the full album which explores themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery through a personal lens.
Written by Nia Archives, Ethan P. Flynn, and Olivia “Livvi Franc” Waithe, “Vertical” was produced by Archives, Flynn, and James Ford, with Matt Karmil mixing and Chris Gehringer mastering. The track draws inspiration from 90s electronica, specifically Madonna’s Ray of Light era and Björk, reducing its BPM to create a dissociative atmosphere. Nia Archives noted a specific synth was designed to evoke a “December in London” feeling.
