LONDON – horsegiirL has released “that’s my beach!”, a new single introducing the thematic scope of her debut album, NATURE IS HEALING, which arrives this Friday.
The single, released via horsegiirL/RCA Records, debuted as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record in the World. Written by horsegiirL and Elof Loelv, with production from horsegiirL, Luvhunter, Nömak, and Margo XS, the track precedes her 15-track debut album, NATURE IS HEALING, set for release on June 5.
The accompanying music video, co-directed by horsegiirL, Enantios Dromos, and Rosario Bohio, visually extends the song’s narrative. It portrays a surreal beachside love story inspired by a Brazilian trip, featuring a half-woman, half-seahorse encounter. The directors highlighted the depiction of “lesbian love at first sight.”
A Queer Beach Utopia and Nature's Fluidity
“that’s my beach!” serves as a vibrant preview for horsegiirL’s debut album, NATURE IS HEALING, inspired by a Brazilian trip and a romantic encounter. The song uses the beach as a metaphor for emotional and identity fluidity, reflecting its ever-changing nature. This duality mirrors themes of freedom and uninhibited expression. The album NATURE IS HEALING is framed as a “love letter to our beautiful planet,” advocating for dance music as a conduit for genuine connection rather than escape. Incorporating global percussion and nature samples, the project fosters collective communion and awakening. The accompanying music video visually extends this, depicting a “lesbian love at first sight” story, where earth and sea connect in unconstrained forms.
