SEOUL – Krystal Jung has released “PWLT,” her second solo single, further defining her sophisticated R&B sound and exploring complex emotional landscapes.

Krystal’s second solo single, “PWLT,” debuted on May 26, 2026, released under the BANA label. The track features production by Steve Lindsey and Patrick Howard, with lyrics co-written by Lindsey and Gigi. This release follows her introspective first single, “Solitary,” which was issued in November 2025, further establishing her solo trajectory within the music industry.

The creative process for “PWLT” was documented in Episode 2 of Krystal’s ‘Charging Crystals’ series, showcasing recording sessions in diverse locations including Jeju and Taiwan. These sessions involved collaborations with notable producers such as Toro y Moi and Kuo-Hung Tseng of Sunset Rollercoaster, highlighting a sophisticated R&B and soul-inflected sound. Physical album pre-orders for the single ran from May 15 to May 21.

The Icy Resolve of a Self-Preserving Heart

Krystal’s “PWLT” articulates a persona defined by emotional detachment and fierce self-preservation, stemming from past heartbreaks. It explores a calculated resilience, prioritizing independence over emotional vulnerability. The lyrics, available for a full analysis of the track “PWLT” by Krystal, frame emotional coldness as empowerment, reflecting a deliberate choice to remain guarded against potential harm.

The track’s narrative, while emphasizing self-protection, simultaneously conveys a profound curiosity about human connection, evident in questions regarding the nature of shared existence. This tension between guardedness and an underlying desire to understand intimacy is further nuanced by a hint of personal inadequacy, adding depth to the confident facade. The sleek, icy atmosphere of “PWLT” complements its themes of resilience and emotional control.
