“You And I”
Bury Tomorrow formed in Southampton, England, in 2006. The initial lineup featured Daniel Winter-Bates on unclean vocals, Jason Cameron on rhythm guitar and clean vocals, Davyd Winter-Bates on bass, Mehdi Vismara on lead guitar, and Adam Jackson on drums. The band quickly began to cultivate a sound rooted in metalcore, blending aggressive elements with melodic passages.
Their self-released debut EP, The Sleep of the Innocents, arrived in 2007. This was followed by their full-length debut album, Portraits, which was released in October 2009 through Basick Records in the UK and later in March 2010 via Artery Recordings in the United States and Japan. The album featured tracks like “You & I” and allowed the band to begin touring internationally, supporting acts such as Asking Alexandria and Of Mice & Men, building their foundation in the metalcore scene.
“Man On Fire”
The period between albums saw Bury Tomorrow face industry pressures, including a request from their American label, Artery Recordings, to relocate to the United States and alter their musical direction. The band resisted, leading to a breakdown in communication and the loss of their North American and Japanese label deals. In April 2012, they signed with Nuclear Blast, marking a significant step in their career.
Their second album, The Union of Crowns, was released in July 2012. In January 2013, founding lead guitarist Mehdi Vismara departed the band and was replaced by Kristan Dawson. Dawson’s arrival preceded the release of their third studio album, Runes, in May 2014. This album, their first with Dawson, reached number 34 on the UK charts and notably topped the UK Rock Chart, signaling a growing audience and critical reception for the band.
“Black Flame”
Bury Tomorrow continued their output with their fourth album, Earthbound, released in January 2016 through Nuclear Blast. This album marked their final release with the label. Following this, in early 2018, the band announced a new partnership with Music for Nations, an imprint of Sony Music.
Their fifth studio album, Black Flame, was released in July 2018. The album demonstrated the band’s continued artistic development and commercial reach, debuting at number 21 on the UK Albums Chart and number 3 on the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart. This period saw Bury Tomorrow maintain a consistent touring schedule, further establishing their position within the metalcore genre.
“All I see is a world of cannibals”
The band’s sixth studio album, Cannibal, was released in July 2020. The album achieved commercial success, entering the Top 10 album charts in the UK, Germany, Switzerland, and Scotland. Lyrically, Cannibal explored personal struggles, with vocalist Dani Winter-Bates addressing themes of mental health.
In July 2021, founding rhythm guitarist and clean vocalist Jason Cameron departed the band, citing creative differences. This marked a significant change in the band’s lineup after 15 years. Bury Tomorrow introduced new members in 2022: Ed Hartwell on rhythm guitar and Tom Prendergast on clean vocals and keyboards. This new six-piece lineup released their seventh studio album, The Seventh Sun, in March 2023, showcasing their continued evolution.
“Villain Arc”
Entering their third decade, Bury Tomorrow remains active in the music scene. In May 2024, they released the single “Villain Arc,” followed by “What If I Burn” in November 2024. These releases precede their eighth studio album, titled Will You Haunt Me, with That Same Patience, which is scheduled for release on May 16, 2025. The band continues to tour and engage with their audience as they prepare for their upcoming album cycle.
