2017-2020: Gainesville Roots & Independent Beginnings

Arrows In Action formed at the University of Florida, establishing their foundational sound and building a local following.

We just loved working with each other so much, and we knew that we all wanted to do this.

Arrows In Action officially formed in Gainesville, Florida, in 2017 while its members, Victor Viramontes-Pattison (vocals, guitar), Matthew Fowler (guitar), and Jesse Frimmel (drums), were undergraduates at the University of Florida. The trio quickly began to cultivate a sound that blended elements of angular indie-rock, ’80s electric sheen, and alt-pop.

During this period, the band focused on developing their chemistry and establishing a local presence. Viramontes-Pattison’s work at the student-run label Swamp Records led to an introduction to Jacob McKay, who would later become their manager. While building their initial independent discography of singles and EPs, the band laid the groundwork for their future releases, characterized by melodic structures and vulnerable lyricism.

2021-2022: The Rise of 'Be More.' & Nashville Transition

The release of their EP Be More. brought national attention, leading to a relocation and new management.

This era helped us realize that we don't need to just be a band made up of guitars, drums and vocals.

The year 2021 marked a significant turning point with the release of their EP Be More. This project garnered wider attention, contributing to a growing fanbase and generating viral moments, particularly with the track “Uncomfortably Numb.” The band’s expanding reach prompted a move from Gainesville to Nashville, a central hub for music, solidifying their commitment to their career.

In the summer of 2022, their manager, Jacob McKay, joined the management company Fly South, bringing Arrows In Action along. This partnership provided increased industry support. Throughout 2022, the band continued to release independent singles such as “Put You Through Me” and “Over It,” further refining their evolving sound and building anticipation for their full-length debut.

2023-2024: Debut Album 'Built To Last' & Extensive Touring

Arrows In Action released their debut album, Built To Last, and embarked on their first nationwide tour.

We felt it was important to say at the end of all this self-discovery; we're here, and we're here for good.

On May 26, 2023, Arrows In Action released their highly anticipated debut full-length album, Built To Last. Produced and mixed by Dan Swank, the album explored themes of personal growth, uncertainty, and nostalgia. It featured collaborations with artists such as Julian Comeau of Loveless and Joshua Roberts of Magnolia Park on “The Credits,” and Brian Butcher of The Home Team on “Wide Eyes.”

Following the album’s release, Arrows In Action embarked on their first nationwide tour, expanding their live presence across the United States. They also supported artists including Taylor Acorn, The Home Team, Boys Like Girls, and iDKHOW on various tours. During this period, the single “Cheekbones” gained significant traction, becoming a fan favorite and contributing to the band’s viral moments.

2025-Present: Nettwerk Partnership & 'I Think I've Been Here Before'

The band signed with Nettwerk Music Group and released their sophomore album, I Think I've Been Here Before, in two parts.

This album deals with looking back and trying to capture moments from the past but also being forced to face the reality of having to create new ones.

In 2025, Arrows In Action signed with Nettwerk Music Group, marking a new chapter in their career with major label support. This partnership led to the release of their sophomore album, I Think I’ve Been Here Before, which was presented in two parts: Side A in May 2025, and Side B in Fall 2025. The album delved into themes of nostalgia, breaking old habits, and re-evaluating past and present experiences. Singles such as “Feel It Again” and “Light Like You” preceded the album’s release.

The band maintained an active touring schedule, participating in the Summer School Tour, Download Festival, Rock for People, and the Vans Warped Tour, in addition to supporting Boys Like Girls on their 20th Anniversary Tour. In April 2026, Arrows In Action released I Think I’ve Heard This Before, a deluxe version of their recent album featuring new tracks like “Stop Talking,” further showcasing their evolving pop-rock sound.
