Indonesian retro pop trio Wijaya 80 has officially released their debut EP, Perjumpaan, on February 14, 2025. The group, consisting of Ardhito Pramono, Erikson Jayanto, and Hezky Joe, aims to bring back the golden era of 1980s music while infusing it with a fresh, contemporary touch.
The EP features six tracks, including previously released singles such as “Terakhir Kali,” “Seharusnya Aku,” and “Pemain Lama.” “Terakhir Kali,” which dropped in December 2024, has already amassed over 11 million streams, while “Seharusnya Aku” and “Pemain Lama” have gained 2.3 million and 1.1 million streams, respectively. The strong streaming numbers indicate the growing appeal of Wijaya 80’s nostalgic yet modern sound.
The title Perjumpaan, which translates to “Encounter” or “Meeting,” reflects the themes of love, relationships, and the pivotal moments that shape personal stories. According to Erikson Jayanto, “We named the album Perjumpaan because every meaningful story—whether filled with joy or sorrow—begins with an encounter.”
Reviving the Glory of 80s Music: Wijaya 80’s Vision and Inspiration

Ardhito Pramono mentioned in an interview with Kumparan that Wijaya 80 deliberately chose to embrace the 80s sound. In addition to “Terakhir Kali,” the signature 80s touch is also evident in “Seharusnya Aku” and “Pemain Lama.” Ardhito, Erikson Jayanto, and Hezky Joe agreed on reviving the golden era of music and reintroducing it through Wijaya 80.
“Music always comes full circle. The 80s sound will make a comeback. And from the name Wijaya itself, which means glory, it represents the glory of the 80s era,” said Ardhito.
“In our opinion, the golden era of 80s music was absolutely incredible. The music was outstanding, with creative pop, Indonesian pop, bossanova pop—so much diversity,” he added.
A Timeless Sound: Blending Nostalgia with Modern Appeal
Musically, Perjumpaan takes listeners on a journey through time, embracing the romantic and melancholic elements of the 1980s while keeping the arrangements relevant to today’s audience. The EP blends vintage instrumentation with heartfelt storytelling, offering both older and younger generations a taste of nostalgia reimagined for the modern era.
With its heartfelt melodies and evocative lyrics, Perjumpaan is set to solidify Wijaya 80’s place in the Indonesian music scene. Fans can now stream the EP on all major digital platforms, bringing the magic of 80s-inspired pop to a new audience.
